About Culture by Design
Meet Melissa Summer
For more than 35 years, I have worked where leadership, workplace culture, communication, growth, and organizational performance meet.
My career began with a Fortune 500 healthcare organization, where I gained early exposure to large-scale operations, leadership systems, service excellence, and organizational accountability. My work later evolved into senior leadership roles in rural healthcare, leading business development, physician recruitment, workforce engagement, marketing, communication, and strategic initiatives.
That experience matters because culture is never an isolated project. It shows up in how leaders communicate, how employees experience the workplace, how organizations recruit and retain people, and how teams respond when expectations are tested.
I understand the pressure leaders face—balancing people, performance, resources, and long-term sustainability.
I bring seasoned perspective, practical strategy, and deep respect for the leaders doing that work every day.
Intentionally Limited Partnerships
Culture work is personal to an organization. It requires listening, responsiveness, and an understanding of what is happening beneath the surface.
For that reason, I intentionally work with a limited number of organizations at a time. The goal is not volume. The goal is to provide thoughtful partnership, practical tools, and the level of attention needed to help the work take hold.
If we work together, you will know who is doing the work, who is answering the phone, and who is helping
